THE Captain Tom Foundation was set up after the outpouring of goodwill and generosity following Sir Tom’s fundraising walk.

What is the Captain Tom Foundation?
Building on his newfound celebrity status, Sir Tom Moore founded the Captain Tom Foundation.
It is a registered charity that aims to address loneliness and inspire hope.
Laying out its mission, the foundation’s website states: "Our mission is to inspire hope.
"To help others see and believe there is always hope, however dark things may seem.
"Whether that’s through the incredible work of our Charity Partners, or community initiatives we are running directly, uniting people and spreading positivity is the goal, and we’re leading the charge.
"None of this is possible without your help.
"We are grateful for every penny and minute you can spare to help us with our mission.
"Together we can ensure that tomorrow will be a good day for so many more."
What will they be raising money for?
The Foundation supports causes close to Captain Tom and his family’s hearts.
These include combating loneliness, championing education and equality as well as continued support for the NHS.
Charities they are working with include, the British Legion, Mind, children’s hospice Helen & Douglas House, and the Willen Hospice for adults.

How can you donate to the Captain Tom Foundation?
Following the death of Sir Tom on February 2, his family said they were aware that members of the public may wish to send condolences.
But they said at this time of grief, they are simply unable to manage any gifts or flowers sent to the house or village.
They requested the public do not send tributes at this time.
Instead, they request donations are made to Sir Tom’s legacy, , or any charity of choice.
Boris Johnson has encouraged the public to join in a round of applause on February 3 for the inspirational war veteran.

April 14 - The war veteran smashes his initial target with £1million donated by mid-morning - rising to £2million just hours later
April 15 - More than £7million is donated by over 340,000 supporters as celeb's praise his heroic effort
April 16 - Captain Tom completes his 100 laps and vows to keep going if people are donating. He receives support from the Prime Minister and Royal family for his incredible achievement
