Mensa geniuses partied with PORN STARS at sexed-up ‘annual gathering’ event

Eyebrows raised as world's cleverest people bump up against smut supremos and their children

America's most intelligent people rubbed shoulders with PORN STARS at the "annual gathering" of Mensa in California last weekend, The Sun has learned.

The "high IQ society" welcomed in a number of sex industry stars for the first time and held a series of no-holds-barred discussions of bondage, disability porn and virtual reality smut.

An amputee "peg-leg porn star" known under her stage name Long Jeanne Silver became the annual event's unlikely star, after appearing alongside her daughter to discuss how her career in the sex industry affected the family's relationship.

Kelly Shibari, a former "plus-size" performer who regards herself as a "sexually-charged figurehead for chubby Asian girls everywhere", was called on to organise the sexy seminars and has now been named as MENSA's first ever "adult industry coordinator".

The retired porn star said she was concerned some members would think she was "scum of the Earth", but was pleasantly surprised to receive a warm and friendly reception.

"People came up to me and said I had changed their perception about the industry," she told The Sun.

"I have already been asked to put together panels for the next annual gathering."

Shibari, who suffers from social anxiety, was nervous when Mensa contacted her out of the blue and asked her to organise and chair two seminars.

But she was stunned to find large audiences of mega-clever people who simply wanted to know more about her work.

This prompted her to draw a comparison between brainboxes and adult movie makers.

"The interesting thing about super smart people is that they also tend to be told by society that they are weird," she added.

"But being around people who are so curious about the world made for an amazing weekend."

Mensa members were treated to seminars on "Japanese rope bondage" and tantric sex at the event, which was held in the luxurious Town and Country Resort & Convention Centre in San Diego.

Shibari also organised a session entitled "Porn and Parenting" which featured retired adult stars and their kids having a "conversation about how parents who are so sexually open, especially on camera, shape their children's view on sex, relationships and dating".

Jeanne Silver and her daughter Irene gave one of the presentations, which focused on Jeanne's trailblazing life as a porn star.

She shot to fame in the 1980s as the star of a film called Long Jeanne Silver which showed her "using the stump of her amputated leg to penetrate her sexual partner", according to Wikipedia.

We asked Shibari if this type of porn was exploitative.

"As a former plus size performer, I understand the stigma of employing something which defines you to make money," she replied.

"But if you choose to define yourself by something that's not mainstream society's idea of beauty, then that's really empowering."

Irene found out about her mum's past when a photographer pal dug out old pictures from the internet.

"As a parent who was in porn, my mom was afraid that child protection services would be called by fellow parents or by the school if they knew about her previous career," she said.

"This stems from a lack of understanding and a rush to assume that one’s character is compromised by being in the adult industry. By speaking publicly about our family situation hopefully we can begin to open the door to a more empathetic and informed response to adult entertainers."

What happened when I realised Mum was a porn star, by Irene Silver

When I found out about my mom’s previous career, a door opened in our relationship. For years she had kept the fact a secret from me. At an age appropriate time she disclosed that she was a burlesque performer but always refused to give me her stage name.

I can understand why she kept it to herself, she was fearful that I would judge her or think differently of her. Instead I encouraged her to embrace her past. I’ve always felt that if you’re going to do something, especially any kind of performance art, you should own it 100%.

Even if we do something that we regret it has helped to shape us and has brought us to our current path. I wasn’t ashamed, I wasn’t embarrassed, I was honestly relived that the secret was out and there wasn’t this shadow lurking over our relationship.

My mom being in porn never affected my choice to become a model or a fetish performer. I was going to be on this path weather I found out about her career or not. I think what it did affect was finding out has allowed me to have a wonderful support system.

I don’t have to hide my profession from my mom or family and that is a huge weight off my shoulders. Its wonderful to be able to share my passion and my art with my mom.

Irene said the Mensa members welcomed her with open arms.

"I have never felt so welcomed and so accepted by a new group of people as I did with the Mensans,"; she continued.

"I had a lot of conversations with a variety of individuals and what I got from all of them was genuine curiosity and a desire to grow and learn.

"At first I was apprehensive because of the topic I would be discussing, but not one person judged me or seemed standoffish about my or my mom’s background

"I hope that sharing our story will help people become more enlightened on the topic and provide a voice for a marginalized group."
