WHITE House front-runner Hillary Clinton was yesterday quizzed by the FBI over her use of private emails.
She was interviewed after claims she mishandled classified information while Secretary of State.
The voluntary meeting took place at the FBI headquarters in Washington DC and lasted around three and a half hours, according to sources.
The scandal has dogged the Democrat’s campaign to be president since early last year.
Mrs Clinton insists the personal email address was simply set up for convenience.
She has previously apologised for using the unsecured account. In one exchange, she told daughter Chelsea about an “al Queda-like group” attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya, in 2012.
More than 2,000 emails have been deemed classified, 65 as secret and 22 top secret.
An inquiry in May found she failed to comply with record-keeping rules during her time as Secretary of
State between 2009 and 2013. The FBI probe is understood to be in its final stages before a decision whether to charge is made by prosecutors.
US Attorney General Loretta Lynch was forced to deny she discussed the scandal with Hillary’s husband and former president Bill, when they met at an airport this week.
Republican presidential rival Donald Trump has labelled her “crooked Hillary”.
