BERNIE Sanders' mittens and laid-back "grandpa" style has spawned a wave of memes and even a Vogue feature story.
The 79-year-old Vermont senator donned a warm, light-brown jacket and oversized mittens as he sat through Joe Biden's inauguration ceremony on Wednesday.
Sanders paid tribute to his home state as he wore a jacket by Burton - a Vermont-based outwear company - and mittens made by Vermont teacher Jen Ellis.
His mittens - which were various shades of brown with zig-zag-like pattern - on his Inauguration Day wardrobe.
The politician later commented about his mittens to CBS' Gayle King.
He the news host: "In Vermont, we know something about the cold. And we’re not so concerned about good fashion. We want to keep warm."
However, Twitter users had a field day with Bernie's choice of clothing and how he was positioned during Biden's big day.
One user : "Bernie dressed like the inauguration is on his to do list today but ain’t his whole day."
Another user - who shared a photo of Sanders sitting on a folding chair with his legs and arms crossed - : "This could’ve been an email."
Sanders appeared to look cold and unamused as he sat outside in a folding chair.
Another Twitter user of Sanders, with the memorable photo of him sitting, photoshopped into iconic moments in time.
Sanders was also pictured during The Last Supper, alongside Jesus and his apostles, on top of former VP Mike Pence's head - where a , sitting on chairs above a Britain's Got Talent contestant, and in the boxing ring during an iconic Muhammad Ali fight.
The Vermont senator was also photoshopped sitting on an orange couch with the cast of Friends.
Alongside the photo, the read: "That one FRIEND who's always cold..."
The same Twitter user shared another meme, instead with Sanders sitting next to Forest Gump on a bench.
"Mama said they was magic mittens," the tweet read - referring to a famous line in the movie when Gump said: "My mama says they were magic shoes. They could take me anywhere."
Other memes created of Sanders shows him sitting on the Iron Throne from Game of Thrones, on sand near the Egyptian pyramids, and alongside workers on a crossbeam during the construction of Rockefeller Center in New York City.
Sanders was also jokingly photoshopped the moon, wearing his now-famous mittens and an astronaut helmet.
Additional photos shared to Twitter show Sanders sitting and waiting on a bench in the Department of Motor Vehicles, outside of Ben and Jerry's factory in Vermont, next to fictional superhero Deadpool, in Disneyland, and inside an Apple store.
Meanwhile, the teacher who created Sanders' mittens wrote to Twitter following widespread praise of Bernie's style.
Ellis : "I made Bernie’s mittens as a gift a couple years ago.
"They are made from repurposed wool sweaters and lined with fleece (made from recycled plastic bottles). #BerniesMittens"
