Abedi was also charged with assault on an emergency worker, relating to a second prison officer.

A third man, Muhammed Saeed, 22, was also charged over the incident.

The three men are due to appear at Bromley Magistrates' Court on April 7.

Hashem Abedi was jailed after plotting the attack on the Manchester Area with his brother Salman in 2017 which killed 22 people.

Abedi was found guilty by a jury in March of 22 counts of murder, attempted murder and plotting to cause an explosion likely to endanger life over the 2017 Manchester Arena bomb attack.

He was handed 24 life sentences in August with a minimum term of 55 years before he can be considered for parole.

Meanwhile, Hassan was jailed for life after building a bomb and planting it on a packed rush-hour District line Tube train on September 15, 2017.

The blast injured dozens of people.

During his trial, he denied he had intended to kill anyone, saying he wanted the device, surrounded by shrapnel, including knives, screwdrivers, nails and screws, to burn rather than detonate.

However he was found guilty “on overwhelming evidence”.
