A DISTURBING video shows a man being body slammed to the ground by a police officer and handcuffed after he was asked to leave a bar.
The cop can be seen in the footage sitting astride the male, who is pinned to the floor.
The incident took place in a bar in famous Bourbon Street drinking area of New Orleans, in Louisiana, in the US.
Despite the apparent roughness of the police officer he has been cleared of any wrongdoing, with Louisiana State Police officials saying the “belligerent” man was treated in the correct way.
The incident happened on Saturday around 4am in the French Quarter of the city – the individual, has been identified as Michael Hoffman, from Illinois.
The police officer had finished his shift when he was asked to assist bar staff getting a customer to leave.
A witness who filmed what happened, shows Hoffman being told to "take a walk" but he began arguing, and then says: “How is this okay? I can press charges.”
According to , he was joined by his brother, who was pushed away.
The officer then grabbed Hoffman and went to arrest him.
As he said “You're on video”, he was slammed to the ground with force.
Hoffman was cuffed and told he had a municipal summons for disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, criminal trespassing, and public intoxication.
ABC reported after watching the video it was decided the officer’s actions were appropriate.
