SCARRED Sophie Hobson today slammed prosecutors after her best pal walked free from court - despite glassing her in the face.

Devastated Sophie, 21, was left needing stitches to a gaping wound after Victoria Doran, 24, lashed out at her for being "boring".

Her home was left like "a murder scene" after the unprovoked attack in April and she lost her job as a carer.

Violent Doran was charged with grievous bodily harm.

But in a shocking twist prosecutors offered to drop it - so long as she pleaded guilty to the lesser offence of wounding.

Single-mum Doran admitted the charge and walked free from Leeds Crown Court with a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.

Last night, heartbroken Sophie sobbed: "As the victim I was put to the sidelines.

"The police had previously asked me if I would be happy for the charge to be dropped to wounding.

"I repeatedly told them I was not.

"I wanted her to go on trial for grievous bodily harm and was prepared to give evidence but my wishes were completely ignored.

"Nobody rang me to even tell me she was in court. I had no idea until it was all over."

She added: "If a man had done this he would have been jailed - but because it was a single mum the judge has been lenient.

"I bet she walked out of court laughing."

Sophie and Doran - who first met working as carers - went out together in April for a school reunion with two lads.

The foursome went to a bar in Leeds before returning to Sophie's rented flat in the city.

Sophie recalled: "Vicky was drinking too much.

"She was having two to every one we had.

"She became increasingly drunk and made a nuisance of herself.

"We got a taxi back to my flat but Vicky was picking up these heavy 3ft tall vases and swinging them around as she danced.

“Despite me asking her nicely to pack it in she just kept laughing and was annoying me and my other friends."

Tired Sophie nodded off on the sofa but was awoken a number of times by Doran playing loud music and demanding more alcohol.

Sophie said: "She wanted me to drive her to get more drinks, but I refused and told her if she wants more she should go home.

"Vicky was calling me ‘boring’ and was right in my face and had the wine glass in her hand.

"She then pushed me and put the glass into my face and hurled me onto the sofa and had me by the hair.

"I couldn’t open my eyes because of the blood pouring down my face."

Their school chums stepped in and dragged Doran away before calling an ambulance for Sophie.

In the meantime a remorseless and super-tanned Doran went through Sophie’s wardrobe to pick out a new outfit before fleeing.

The gash across Sophie's forehead was stitched and cuts in her scalp were glued together.

Sophie's mum Sharon Clark, 45, from Pool-in-Wharfedale, West Yorks., said: "I got a call from Sophie in the hospital.

"My stomach somersaulted when she said ‘Vicky’s glassed me’.

"I drove straight to the hospital.

"I was amazed when Sophie told me she wasn’t going to get the police involved because Vicky was her friend.

"She was hoping that Vicky would text to say ‘sorry’, but I said she’s not just slapped you in the face.

"I went back to the flat and there was blood everywhere, all over the lounge carpets and walls and in the kitchen and bathroom.

"It was like stepping into a murder scene."

Sophie finally contacted the cops and Doran eventually handed herself in and was charged with GBH.

But at court this week the charge was dropped and Doran escaped prison.

As well as the suspended sentence she was told to do 180 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay £500 compensation to her victim.

She refused to comment as she left.

Sophie, who received £2,400 criminal injuries compensation, is now back living with her mum.
