The range, in ages 4 to 11, has already been praised in independent tests for its toughness and quality.

At Tesco's the same items will set parents back £8.50 - meaning parents can save 53 per cent if they shop at Aldi.

Not surprisingly, Marks & Spencers  has a more expensive uniform range with the same items adding up to £15.20.

Parents shopping at Asda can expect to pay £7.50 when buying a pack of two polo shirts, a round neck sweater and a skirt or trousers, reports .

Sainsbury's offers the same items - a round neck sweater, a skirt or trousers and a pack of three polo shirts, for £12.50.

"And mums and dads can get everything sorted before the summer holidays even begin - something our customers have told us they love.

"The Aldi school uniform package costs the same across all sizes and can be bought on our website as well as in our stores.

"It couldn't be easier for parents to stock up on this great-value, excellent quality range."

Aldi's back to school collection will be in stores from Thursday, July 14 while stocks last and can be pre-ordered online from July 7.
