VILE trolls better leave the wonderful Alison Hammond alone.
I’m as outraged as anyone by ITV callously axing Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford from This Morning on Fridays after years of loyal service where they became beloved by viewers.
But that decision is certainly not the fault of the former Big Brother star – one of the kindest souls in the TV industry who is said to have been left deeply upset by the vitriol regarding her appointment to Ruth’s former gig, where she’ll present alongside Dermot O’Leary.
I’ve got to know Alison over the years and do not have a negative word to say about the star entertainer.
She’s self-deprecating, honest, outrageously hilarious and the most amazing fun to be around, even though she doesn’t drink.
On one trip to the Cannes Film Festival, where I was struggling to get into a party hosted by the Kardashians because of their overzealous security, all it took was for Alison to march through shouting the Queen of UK entertainment had arrived for us to burst through the velvet rope in a nanosecond.
Even the first family of US reality TV couldn’t compete with her force of personality!
Alison has waited years for this opportunity.
In fact, no one can understand what took ITV so long to realise her true potential, given viewers and critics alike have always adored her.

Perhaps it’s her unconventional looks, or maybe it’s her ethnicity. If either were a factor, it’s shameful.
But this is finally Alison’s moment – and by God she deserves it.
So if I hear one troll try and take her on again, they’ll have me to deal with.
