It is because women go for blokes with a “dark triad” of personality traits.

The three traits are narcissism (self love), Machiavellianism (coldness and manipulation) and psychopathy (anti-social behaviours).

Tests showed men with the traits were more successful at speed dating but any flings tend to be short.

 The study was carried out at the University of Graz, Austria, and suggested a tendency towards 'short-term mating habits'

Emanuel Jauk, of the University of Graz, Austria, said the traits are linked to “pursuit of short-term mating strategies”.

In tests, men were drawn to physically attractive, narcissistic women, he said.
