Dad diagnoses his cancer on the internet after local GPs fail to identify disease NINE TIMES

A DAD of five diagnosed he had cancer on Google in 15 minutes after five GPs missed it for a year.

Kevin Everett, 60, visited a local practice nine times but doctors failed to spot the tumour.

They suspected wheezy Kevin had bronchitis and sleep apnoea.

He decided to Google his symptoms when he went deaf in one ear.

Kevin, a singer in a band, suspected he may have nasopharyngeal neck and head cancer after reading an NHS website.

The engineer asked his practice to refer him to a specialist who confirmed his fears.

He has now had chemotherapy and will have radiotherapy.

Kevin, of Hull, said: “I’ve no faith in GPs any more. I was told that if the cancer had taken any longer to diagnose, it could have spread and been incurable.

“If it took me 15 minutes of checks, why couldn’t they, as trained GPs, find out what was wrong with me?”

He has complained to the Quality Care Commission about the Calvert Practice.

The City Health Care Partnership, which represents it, said they did not comment on cases.
