A DOG has been caught on camera having a hallucinogenic experience after she ate some mind-altering magic mushrooms.

8-month-old Roxy was playing at a Ranch when she tasted the psychoactive substance in a cow pat.

But instead of immediately helping her, the owner decided to stand back and take a shocking video.

The footage shows Roxy shaking and stumbling while staring wild eyed into the distance.

In the frightening clip, the pet’s eyes are extremely dilated as she breaths heavily.

Roxy seems very unsteady on her feet and she stumbles a number of times on the grassy ground.

The usually bouncy border collie stood almost stock still apart from her tumbles and, according to her owner, was far more alert than usual.

But the owner claimed that she had been “enjoying the experience”.

Her suspicious human decided to take her to the vet.

The doctor was able to tell him that the dog had been experiencing a trip caused by the highly psychoactive drug.

Side effects to the substance include disorientation, hallucinations and sickness.

According to the vet, a lot of dogs accidentally eat magic mushrooms while exploring.

The medic also said that some canines specifically seek out the psychoactive drug.

But it didn’t take long for Roxy to recover.

The next day, her owner filmed her again.

This time, the border collie is seen bouncing and bounding in a field, happily playing with her owner and another dog.

The incredible video was released in February 2014 but has recently resurfaced.

The popular clip has now racked up over 130,000 views.

Magic mushrooms are one of the strongest psychoactive substances around and can be incredibly dangerous.

The ‘trippy’ mushrooms produce hallucinations.

Dogs can eat some kinds of mushrooms without them having an effect, but owners have to be careful that the species is not poisonous.
