Rishi Sunak promises £275million to fund new crime and terror crackdown
RISHI Sunak will today turn the spending taps on to bankroll a new crime and terror crackdown.
The Chancellor will plough a whopping £275million to tackle court delays caused by the Covid lockdown.
And he will bankroll a new centre to unite top cops and intelligence chiefs who lead the fight against terror.
The world-leading Counter Terrorism Operations Centre will help spooks and police thwart terrorists before they strike and respond more quickly to attacks.
The Chancellor will commit to spending tens of millions of pounds on the project when he unveils his spending review today.
Mr Sunak said the extra cash for England’s struggling courts “will support the government’s crackdown on crime, help us deliver swift and effective justice, and keep criminals off our streets”.
On terror, he added:“Our police and intelligence agencies do an extraordinary job every day to protect us all from terrorist activity.
