Woman, 18, fighting for life & man, 25, dead as cops issue urgent ketamine warning in Cardiff
A TEENAGER is fighting for her life and a man has died as police issued an urgent warning over ketamine.
South Wales Police have confirmed an 18-year-old woman is in a critical condition and a 25-year-old man has died in Cardiff.
Detectives have launched an investigation into the suppy of the drug after the two victims were found.
Cops warned the drugs are illegal and may contain a "cocktail of toxic ingredients".
South Wales Police announced the grim news on Twitter as they urged anyone with information to get in touch with them.
Ketamine is a class B drug which can land users with up to five years in prison, or dealers with a sentence of 14 years.
The drug - also dubbed Special K - creates a trance-like, relaxed feeling among users.
It is estimated to be taken by hundreds of thousands of people in Britain.
Side effects from the horse tranquillizer include chronic bladder damage and heart problems.
'TOXIC COCKTAIL'
In a statement, South Wales Police said: "We are issuing a warning after an investigation has been launched into the supply of dangerous drugs, believed to be linked to Ketamine, in the [Cardiff] area.
"This comes following the death of a 25 year-old man and an 18 year-old woman is in a critical condition in hospital.
"These drugs are illegal and there is every possibility that they may contain a cocktail of toxic ingredients."
It comes after former ketamine user Thomas Delaney, 33, bravely showed his skeletal frame in harrowing pictures which lay bare the .
He revealed how his nightmare began two years ago when he lost his job and started taking the hallucinogenic to numb the pain.
Thomas, of Glasgow — who wants to use his experience to warn kids off illegal substances — said: “I lost my entire life and my drug problem got worse.
“I weighed six stone at my lowest point. I wanted to die."

He added: "I first tried alcohol when I was about 15. I didn’t like it because I assumed I’d turn into my father, who was an alcoholic.
“Then I moved on to various party drugs. I had a good job, had a nice car, the lot.

“Nobody assumes you’re a drug addict when you’re well turned out. I was an addict living in a fancy house.”
Thomas, originally of Barnsley, Yorks, checked himself into a local hospital, and underwent six months of intense therapy to beat his addiction.
