Moment angry dad paid £60 fine for term-time holiday in one and two pence pieces
He said his eight-year-old son has caught up quickly since being taken out of school
A DAD paid the fine given to him for taking his son out of school for a holiday by lugging in two bags full of pennies worth £6o.
He dumped the heavy bags on desks at the council offices in front of bemused looking staff, before promptly leaving.
Brent Catterson, 36, was fined after he took eight-year-old Michael on a four-day trip to Majorca, Spain, without permission last May.
But after receiving the fine from Telford & Wrekin Borough Council he thought he would pay it his way - with only one and two pence pieces.
He explained: "I am a bit of a joker. I phoned up the local authority after they handed me the fine and the woman was a bit arrogant .
"I thought I can play that game too and I wanted to have the last laugh so I went to the bank and changed £60 in 1s and 2s.
"I told my best mate I was thinking of doing it and he dared me to do it so there was no going back from there.
"When I walked in and emptied the coins the staff couldn't believe it.
"A man behind the counter was laughing and a woman who was working there was looking at me with her mouth open in amazement.

"I read the fine sheet and it didn't say anything about not paying in cash. The council have called me since and confirmed that I've paid and have given me a receipt."
The stunt was filmed by a pal and posted on Facebook, where it went viral and has been viewed by 2.3m and shared more than 11,000 times.
Brent, from Telford, Shropshire, said: "I don't think what I did it that bad. My son's got regular attendance and he's only eight so it's not like he got exams on or anything.
"Kids are like sponges at that age and he's already caught up.
"I didn't do it so much for the money. He is only eight and he's not going to miss that much.
"It wasn't too detrimental to his schooling. He hasn't got any exams. I didn't think it would do him a great deal of harm."
He added: "I never knew it was going to go this big.
"I'm getting around 700 friend requests a day on Facebook and people out in Benidorm [where he is on holiday] keep coming up to me and asking for pictures.
"The videos had thousands of comments. Obviously some of them have been negative but loads of people have called me a legend."
Brent lives with his long term partner Kayleigh Thompson, 28, and their other son Henry, two.
