DIE-HARD England fans are being made to pay a fortune to find flights and hotels for the team’s Euro 2016 knock-out game in the exclusive resort of Nice.

Hotel rooms began to sell out within hours with many prices rocketing online to nearly £1,000 for just a two-night stay.

One way flights from London to Nice were selling for nearly £400 as fans tried to secure last-minute deals.

Normal prices can be as cheap as £60 RETURN.

Tens of housands of fans had travelled to Saint-Etienne to watch last night’s match against Slovakia.

Roy Hodgson’s men secured qualification for the next stage with a goal-less draw, coming second in the group behind Wales.

Many fans had made the trip without booking a room and had to spend the night sleeping in local parks.

England’s opponent in Nice on Monday will be either Hungary, Portugal, Iceland or Austria.

With temperatures set to hit 29C in the south of France this weekend, fans were already making plans for their Euro 2016 getaway.

Hotels website told customers prices had increased since yesterday due to demand, while scores of hotels on the site were sold out or had only a couple of rooms left.

A spokesman for the company said: “Accommodations for June 27 in Nice are now 88 per cent reserved.

"English are the top nationality for bookings to Nice that check out on June 28 or June 29 — the days following match day, making up a third of all bookings in Nice.”

David Cameron praised England and Wales’s achievement, and offered best wishes to Northern Ireland, who will try to qualify later today.

He said on Twitter: “Well done @England & @FAWales. Two home teams in 2nd round for 1st time in over 30 years. Best of luck to @NorthernIreland.”

If England had topped the group - as most fans expected - Hodgson's side would have been playing their next fixture in Paris.

Many Three Lions fans had already booked hotels in the French capital ahead of last night's disappointment.

But the goods news is the beer is a lot cheaper in Nice at a mere £5 a pint!
