The museum tweeted: "His campaign may not have been a hole in one, but @RealDonaldTrump is now on course to dedicate more of his time to his favourite sport as #MadameTussaudsLondon re-dresses his figure in golfing attire to reflect his potential 2021 wardrobe."

Trump, who owns several golf courses including one in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, insisted the election is far from over after discovering he lost to Joe Biden.

Pictures circulated the internet on Saturday - with one of the photos showing the president looking out onto the golf course and another of him speaking to fellow golfers - supposedly after hearing the election outcome.

An official statement from president Trump reads: “We all know why Joe Biden is rushing to falsely pose as the winner, and why his media allies are trying so hard to help him: they don’t want the truth to be exposed.

"The simple fact is this election is far from over. has not been certified as the winner of any states, let alone any of the highly contested states headed for mandatory recounts, or states where our campaign has valid and legitimate legal challenges that could determine the ultimate victor.

"In Pennsylvania, for example, our legal observers were not permitted meaningful access to watch the counting process.

"Legal votes decide who is president, not the news media."

But amid the legal wrangling, Trump decided to leave the White House to play a round of golf at his course in Sterling, Virginia.

It has been estimated that the Republican has enjoyed more than 200 rounds during his four years in office.

electoral fate appeared sealed days before Tuesday's election as Madame Tussauds in Berlin put its waxwork of Trump into a dustbin.

The move was made just before Election Day as polls predicted a comprehensive victory for Joe Biden.

Trump will be the first one-term president since George HW Bush in 1992 when he was defeated by Bill Clinton.

Pictures showed the effigy in a bin surrounded by rubbish bags, tweets and a Make America Great Again hat.

Trump's waxwork wears a badge saying 'I love Madame Tussauds' and as tweets reading 'Fake News!' 'You are fired!' and 'I love Berlin' pop out of the bin around it.

The bin is arranged as if outside Trump Tower in New York.

“We here at Madame Tussauds Berlin removed Donald Trump ’s waxwork as a preparatory measure.”
