She was pronounced dead at the site of the crash in Kirby Misperton in North Yorkshire, by paramedics.

Her family said: "We are devastated at our loss and still trying to come to terms with it as a family. We'd like time to grieve privately and thank all our friends and family for their support and kind thoughts."

A fundraising page set up to help the family has so far raised more than £1,700.

The three other people in the car at the time, also from Thornaby, were arrested and have been released on bail by police.

A 27-year-old man was the driver of the blue Mercedes C220 saloon car, the other passengers were a 22-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman.
