Boy, 15, fighting for his life after falling from roof while playing with friends

A TEENAGE boy left in a critical condition after falling from the roof of a school has been named.

Police said Kieron Simspon, 15, suffered a fractured skull and internal injuries when he plunged around 20ft from the roof of the disused Habergham High School in Burnley, Lancashire.

The youngster was taken by ambulance to the Manchester Children’s Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

It is understood student Kieron was with other year 10 pupils from Shuttleworh College when he fell.

Headteacher Ruth England said: "This is a very upsetting incident which has shocked all of us in the school. We have been in touch with Kieron's family to offer our support and let them know that we are all thinking of them and sending our very best wishes for a speedy recovery for Kieron."

Lancashire Police said that they were contacted at about 9.45pm on Saturday to reports that he had fallen but said there was nothing to suggest it was anything other than a “tragic accident”.

Detective Inspector Alisa Wilson, of East CID, said: “This young man has suffered serious injuries and while detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fall, at this stage there is nothing to suggest this was anything other than a tragic accident.”

Any witnesses should contact police on 101 quoting log number 1549 of June 18.
