The mum of three, who has 11-week-old twins, and a five-year-old child, had a fling with prisoner Andrew Roberts at Albany prison on the Isle of Wight.

McIntyre, of Ryde in the Isle of Wight, claims she began the affair in a bid to uncover intelligence, but it then spiralled out of control.

Roberts was convicted in 2003 of strangling Louise L'Homme and their eight-month-old daughter Tia to death at their home in Rhondda, South Wales.

He was 22 years old when he was sentenced to two life terms at Swansea Crown Court and has been serving his time at HMP Isle of Wight's Albany Prison.

GUILTY PLEA

Appearing at Isle of Wight Crown Court, McIntyre admitted four counts of wilfully neglecting to perform her duty and wilfully misconducting herself between November and December 2018 in a way which amounted to an abuse of the public's trust.

And she was warned by Judge Malcolm Gibney the custody threshold "has clearly been passed".

The mum-of-three admitted having a sexual relationship with prisoner Roberts.

She also admitted failing to report to prison authorities he had a mobile phone, giving him her mobile number and communicating with him via mobile phone and sending him a photo of herself.

The prison officer also pleaded guilty to trying to allow him to transfer money into her bank account.

In addition she admitted giving Roberts the phone number of fellow prison officer Samuel Laidler, allowing him to assault Officer Laidler and failing to warn Officer Laidler or the prison authorities of the impending beating.

Briony Molyneux, defending McIntyre, said while she admitted a sexual relationship, it did not amount to sexual intercourse, but involved small incidents of touching.

She said McIntyre also claimed the relationship began as an exercise for her to uncover intelligence and led to something more - although the prosecution dispute this.

Judge Gibney told her: "These are serious matters and will be dealt with appropriately."

McIntyre was given bail on condition she must reside at her home address.
