The 45-year-old model and TV presenter found fame as a topless model in the 1990s, and told her 4,316 Facebook friends to ignore any offensive or strange messages from her.

On June 18, the mum-of-three posted: "Hi everyone. There is a new hacker on Facebook.

"He arises between the comments of your contact's posts, with an offensive comment.

"It is really ugly and looks like it came from you. You don't see them, but your friends do.

"This can create many offensive misunderstandings.

"They also post porn pictures. I want to say to all my contacts that if something off color (sic) comes up in my name, it is not from me."

She asked people to copy and paste her message onto their pages to spread the words and alert their Facebook friends.

An online friend, Annalisa Rose Mannings, replied: "Thanks Mel for raising awareness. I've already been a victim after porn being posted on my page.

"Obviously I've reported the image and encourage others to do so."
