Labour shame
THE Labour Party has committed unlawful acts of discrimination.
Jewish members have been harassed. And the Party in general could be seen to accept anti-Jew hate.
Those aren’t our opinions. They’re the findings of Britain’s public race watchdog in its report into the Party’s handling of anti-Semitism complaints.
How did Labour — the Party of Clement Attlee, Jim Callaghan and John Smith — sink so low?
In two words: Jeremy Corbyn.
The fact he is an apologist for anti-Semitism is now wholly indisputable. His Jew-hating terrorist “friends”. The racist mural he admired. Jewish MPs forced out. MPs and activists suspended. Complaints systematically ignored.
But he did not exist in a bubble. And the naked careerists in Parliament who defended him for five years — who TWICE campaigned to make him Prime Minister — must not be allowed to forget it. Sir Keir — for all his tough talk now — is among their ranks.
It’s true that by suspending his predecessor from the Party, he has gone some way to redeeming himself.
Now, he must bite the bullet and send Corbyn and his goons packing for good.
The brave MPs who walked away from Labour’s darkest night can feel proud today. Luciana Berger and her ilk will go down as heroines in the history books.
But the men and women who sought to put Corbyn into Number 10 must now work very hard to restore their moral authority. Let alone win public support.
Escape Claus
THE Crime Commissioner is right — families need clarity on Christmas restrictions.
Of course, we all still hope that there will be a Christmas reprieve. But we also understand that the second wave is a serious threat.
And if Government ministers choose to keep the Rule of Six in place over the festive period, we will, however grudgingly, accept their decision.
Either way — we need to know.
If big family gatherings ARE allowed, trains must be booked, turkeys ordered and grandparents invited. If not, children must be let down gently — and alternative treats arranged.
The vast majority of Brits have been sensible and responsible throughout the pandemic.
It’s time to start treating them like adults.
