Rasheed thanked Lineker by writing him an emotional letter

Gary made the kind gesture through charity Refugees at Home after critics attacked him for defending migrants coming to the UK, suggesting he should house some himself in his Surrey mansion.

Speaking to GQ magazine, Gary said: “The strange argument was, ‘Why don’t you have them in your house, then?’.

“Having had that constantly thrown at me for years, I thought, ‘Why wouldn’t I?’

“My kids are in their 20s. It was a really positive experience.

“It’s been fascinating and a real education for my boys as well.

“Because obviously they’re privileged, but then to hear this guy’s story.
