SACHA Baron Cohen was seen in the new Borat film entering the Conservative Political Action Conference earlier this year dressed in KKK robes – and claiming he was Stephen Miller.
The , released last Friday, includes the bizarre scene at the conference, run by the American Conservative Union (ACU) and known as CPac, in February of this year.
character Borat was trying to find a way to “deliver” his daughter, named Tutar, to on behalf of Nursultan Nazarbayev, the former president of Kazakhstan.
Nazarbayev wants to join a "strong man's club" of politicians with who Trump is friendly.
Borat questions in the film: “How would I slip into this conference of unnoticed? Suddenly, I had an idea.”
At that point, Borat is seen entering the lobby of the convention dressed in a full hood and robe that members of the Ku Klux Klan wore.
The group of American white supremacists, known for its hatred and terror, targets black people, Jews, immigrants, and members of the LGBTQ community, among others.
“I’m Stephen Miller,” Borat says in the movie, released on Friday. “Sorry I’m late.”
Miller is a top aide to Trump who has created and pushed for strict immigration policies on those seeking refuge in the US.
In the film, people are seen staring at Borat as he walks through the lobby, to a bathroom, where he changes into a costume of Trump.
Borat explains that he needed to figure out a way to get Tutar to , “the only man that Trump would trust.”
“But who does Pence trust? I knew the disguise I had to use,” he says as he puts on a body suit and blows air into it, before putting on a suit eerily similar to that of Trump’s usual outfit and wearing a mask of his face.
The movie cuts to Matt Schlapp, a lobbyist and the chairman of the ACU, introducing Pence to the convention.
The vice president makes his way to the stage as Borat is seen running through the lobby – dressed as Trump – while carrying Tutar over his shoulder.
Pence addressed the crowd on .
“As of today, we have 15 cases of coronavirus that have been detected in the United States, with only one new case detected in the last two weeks,” he says as the audience cheers.
“While the risk to the American public remains low, as the president said yesterday, we’re ready. We’re ready for anything,” Pence says to more claps and a standing ovation from the crowd.
Suddenly, Borat rushes in and shouts: “Michael Pen-is, Michael Pen-is, I brought the girl for you! Don’t worry, I won’t get jealous – she’s not ”
Boos and “get out” are heard from the audience, as the vice president appears to look directly at Borat.
“P***y on Pen-is,” Borat shouts as security guards work to get him out of the room. “Mike! Help me! Mike! You’re fired!”
Members of the audience begin to shouts four more years, to which Borat, dressed as Trump, says: “Four more years! 100 more years! If you release me, I’ll give you my Klan robes.”
After he’s escorted from CPac, Borat is seen in the next shot sending a letter, explaining he has “unfortunate news.”
“Michael Pence did not accept [Tutar] as a gift.”
The ACU and Stephen Miller did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Sun.
However, on Sunday that the ACU has threatened legal action against Baron Cohen for entering CPac.
In a letter last week, attorneys for the ACU told Baron Cohen to remove “any content” from Borat 2 that was filmed at CPac.
“Any implication that KKK style hatred would be welcome at CPAC is false and malicious,” said the letter, per the news outlet.
“We demand that you immediately cease and desist from using any content filmed during CPAC in Borat 2 and its trailer.”
“Should you not make these modifications to Borat 2, we will vigorously pursue all available legal remedies.”
Another scene from the film drew headlines before it was released on .
Trump’s personal lawyer, , was seen sitting down in a hotel room in July with Tutar, who was posing as a conservative journalist, to talk about the Trump administration’s Covid response.
