Nottingham and Warrington to enter Tier 3 – What you can and can’t do under strict new lockdown rule
NOTTINGHAM is on the brink of a Tier 3 lockdown as Warrington gets set to plunge into the toughest restrictions from Thursday.
Local leaders in Warrington agreed a deal for the new measures today, with the tightened rules to come into force just after midnight on Thursday morning.

The strict new measures mean bars and pubs that cannot serve meals will have to close from next week.
And people will not be able to meet up with people from other households indoors, in any private garden, or at most outdoor venues and ticketed events.
Casinos, betting shops and soft play areas will also be forced to shut.
The restrictions are also expected to be introduced in Nottingham, although they have not yet been confirmed there.
WARRINGTON TIER 3: WHAT YOU CAN'T DO
Here's what you can't do in Warrington under Tier 3 restrictions...
- You cannot socialise with anybody you don’t live with, unless you have formed a household or childcare support bubble, in any indoor setting or venue – including homes or restaurants.
- You cannot socialise with anybody you don’t live with, unless you have formed a household or childcare support bubble, in any private garden, or at most outdoor hospitality venues and ticketed events.
- You cannot socialise in a group of more than six in an outdoor public space, like parks.
- Pubs and bars that do not serve substantial meals as a restaurant, like a main lunchtime or evening meal, must also close.
- You can't go to betting offices, soft play centres or casinos.
- You should avoid staying overnight in another part of the UK.
Warrington Borough Council said it had agreed £5.9 million in coronavirus support as it will be pushed into Tier 3.
Leader of the council Russ Bowden, said: "Across Warrington, we have seen our case numbers remain stubbornly high, with more people being admitted to hospital and, upsettingly, more people being taken by the virus.
"As we approach winter, we need to take urgent action to drive down the number of coronavirus cases in our town."
The current infection rate in Warrington is at 347.6 cases per 100,00, and eight people have died at Warrington Hospital in the last two days.
WARRINGTON TIER 3: WHAT YOU CAN DO
Warrington Council has agreed a range of exemptions as part of the support package for moving into tier 3. This means...
- You can still go to leisure centres, gyms, fitness centres, beauticians, hairdressers and trampoline centres which are Covid secure.
- You can still make essential journeys but should avoid travelling outside Warrington wherever possible.
- Children can still go to school
Despite a fall in the number of cases in Nottingham, major hospitals were forced to postpone surgeries last night and local leaders said they were in discussions with the Government over fresh restrictions.
The infection rate in Nottingham has plummeted by a third in one week, in a hopeful sign things could be improving.
The number of cases per 100,000 fell a shocking height of 926.7 cases in the week up to October 11 to 610.1 in the week to October 18.
There were also mounting fears of the North East being thrown into Tier 3, but talks with the Government were paused after case rates fallen.
Data from the Public Health England surveillance report show the fall, however, is minimal - down from 293 cases per 100,000 to 253.
Nottingham MPs discussed the possibility of fresh measures with Government ministers this morning, following a two hour meeting between the Government and the leaders of the Nottingham city council, Nottingham county council, Broxtowe, Rushcliffe and Gedling.

They have been living under Tier 2 measures for a little over a week, despite having the worst infection rate in England a fortnight ago.
All of those areas are expected to be thrown into tough Tier 3 restrictions as soon as next week - although the exact rules for the areas have not yet been confirmed.
The areas, are likely however, to see blanket Tier 3 restrictions, which include a ban on household mixing indoors and out as well as pubs and bars shutting unless they serve substantial meals.
