Officers believe three separate cars were involved in each attempt, but are warning parents to remain vigilant.

In one incident a man pulled up to a young boy in a white van and asked if he wanted a lift to King's College School.

The boy refused and as he walked away the driver reportedly said: "I'll give you credit for soldiering on like that."

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "We are aware of three reports of incidents of either attempted abductions or suspicious behaviour in the Wimbledon and Raynes Park areas of the borough since June 7.

"To date, the descriptions of the vehicles and drivers given by the children are different and involve both male and female drivers. We have increased patrols in the area.
