Cops warn parents to be vigilant as THREE attempted child abductions are reported in ONE week
Police have received reports of multiple attempted child abductions in south-west London in the past week
PARENTS have been warned to keep vigilant after three attempted child abductions were reported in an area in just one week.
Police in south-west London were alerted to three incidents in the Merton area between June 7 and June 15.
Officers believe three separate cars were involved in each attempt, but are warning parents to remain vigilant.
In one incident a man pulled up to a young boy in a white van and asked if he wanted a lift to King's College School.
The boy refused and as he walked away the driver reportedly said: "I'll give you credit for soldiering on like that."
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "We are aware of three reports of incidents of either attempted abductions or suspicious behaviour in the Wimbledon and Raynes Park areas of the borough since June 7.
"To date, the descriptions of the vehicles and drivers given by the children are different and involve both male and female drivers. We have increased patrols in the area.

"We are working with local authority partners to ensure appropriate personal safety advice is available to schools in the area."
Officers also warned parents to "beware on school runs" to prevent kids from being targeted.
They also confirmed no children have been hurt in the incidents.
Elsewhere, parents in Sutton have been informed students have been approached by unknown adults twice in the space of a week.
In a letter, revealed on Facebook, staff at Overton Grange said a man, described as in his 40s or 50s, white, fat and bald approached a Year 8 girl and asked her to get into his black van in Devonshire Road.
Extra staff are on the roads in response to the disturbing incidents.
Another parent claimed a similar approach occurred in nearby Kingston, where children were offered lifts.
Police said they are investigating the incident but do not believe it is linked.
