Man’s ‘chilling call to 999 after he had murdered his wife because she asked for a divorce’
He denied remembering the incident which left his wife dead after she had been stabbed multiple times
A JEALOUS husband who murdered his wife rang the police and told them: "I've got something to show you".
Somalian Abdirashid Khadar killed his 21-year-old wife after she had asked for a divorce, a court heard.
He lured her to the flat they had shared under the premise of needing help with the cleaning, and is alleged to have stabbed her to death on Sunday, July 26 last year.
Half an hour later the 22-year-old called 999 to tell officers he had killed someone and wanted to be arrested, adding the chilling message he had something to show them.
When police arrived at the flat in Barton Hill, Bristol, they found Amal Abdi in a pool of blood.
Prosecuting, Kate Brunnel, said: "Police found him [Khadar] nearby and he said 'I've got something to show you' and guided them to the flat.
"Police were greeted by a horrifying scene. Blood was smeared on the walls and floor."
Bristol Crown Court heard Amal had been stabbed repeatedly with three different knives.
Khadar came to the UK in March 2015 after travelling from Italy, before meeting up with his wife who had been in Bristol since 2010.
They had one child together and had married in Ethiopia. They had continued a long-distance relationship as Khadar could not get the right travel documents.
The couple had a turbulent relationship and the court heard Amal had told the defendant she "didn't want him anymore" on the morning she died, and had been staying with her aunt in the same block of flats.
