THIS is the plush Praia da Luz villa paedophile Sir Clement Freud entertained the McCanns in just weeks after Maddie vanished.

Kate and Gerry were invited for lunch at the monster's £1million home after their daughter vanished from their holiday apartment one third of a mile away in 2007.

The McCanns were treated to a lunch of egg and watercress sandwiches and risotto by the "usually introverted" former MP.

Kate McCann detailed the experience in her book 'Madeleine', saying his first words to the couple were "Can I interest you in a strawberry vodka?"

Writing about the now-chilling experience in her book, the devastated mum said: ";Thank God for people like Clement who kept us smiling."

The shamed BBC child abuser invited the couple over again, months after Madeleine vanished while the couple were at dinner 50 yards away.

Their second meeting came after the McCanns were wrongly treated as suspects in the investigation.

Disgraced Freud, who died in 2009, was shockingly outed as a child abuser on Tuesday.

Three women have come forward to tell their heartbreaking stories of how the dad-of-five abused them when they were young.

The brave victim says she felt "very uneasy" after learning of Freud's potential link to the McCanns back in 2007.

Vicky told ITV: "It really jarred with me, left me feeling very uneasy. He had a home in Praia da Luz, but why invite them and cook for them?"

Freud's family claim he was in the UK at the time of Madeleine's disappearance.

The McCanns are said to be "horrified" at the allegations against their former friend.

Kate had previously described spending time with Freud as "so ordinary and comforting, a bit like going to see your  granddad after a horrible day at school".

A source close to the parents said: "It certainly raises a lot of questions. They will be appalled to hear the details.

"Clement Freud invited them round for drinks, just to show some sympathy. He had a family home in Praia da Luz and the invitation came as a bolt from the blue.

"They were grateful for his sympathy. It was a chance for them to take time out and have a drink by someone being friendly."

The Metropolitan Police have not commented on how the new revelations may affect Operation Grange, the hunt for Maddie.

Former murder squad detective Colin Sutton said: "If this is something that investigators had not been aware of then it would be certainly a potential line of inquiry that would be worth pursuing.

"It is not something that ought to be taken lightly and you would also want to look any connections he may have had in the area at the time."

A statement from the team after victim Vicky Hayes claimed she warned police of Freud's potential link to the case said: ""Following the transmission of the documentary this evening (15 June), the MPS will make an assessment of the allegations to ensure the safeguarding of anyone at risk, and also consider if any criminal investigation is required to bring any living persons to justice.""
