Michael Stacey admits pocketing more than £5,000 from peddling cannabis from his garden shed while wife Maria denies the charges
A COUPLE who had an over the top Cinderella-themed wedding in a carriage first made for glamour model Katie Price turned to drug dealing months later, a court has heard.
Tacky Michael and Maria Stacey made headlines when they tied the knot in August 2012 in a lavish ceremony inspired by her love of TV's 'Big Fat Gypsy Wedding'.
The pair were led by two white horses through the centre of their home town of Plymouth, Devon in what Maria boasted was 'My Big Pink Fairytale Wedding.'
But their fairytale had an unhappy ending when they were both arrested and accused of selling drugs five months later.
Plymouth Crown Court heard how Michael, 33, pocketed more than £5,000 from peddling cannabis from his garden shed between January 2013 and March 2014.
He was joined in the dock by his wife where they were jointly charge with possession with intent to supply cannabis.
They were also accused of possessing £5,245 as criminal property and converting criminal property - namely £26882 - between the same dates.
Michael admitted the offence and was released on bail to be sentenced tomorrow (fri).
His 28 year-old wife denied the charges and, in light of her husband's guilty plea, the CPS decided her case could lay on file.
Speaking at the time of their wedding, Maria said she wanted a Barbie-style white and pink theme.
She also said she was a big fan of Channel 4's My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, which gave her some ideas for her big day.
She said: ""My wedding could be compared to My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding - I do know travellers and I've seen what they do and I've got ideas from there
"I also got inspiration from Disney films and Disney princesses, especially with the carriage."
The celebrity carriage - made for the wedding of Katie Price and pop star Peter Andre - was hired from Manchester.
