KERRY Kennedy was married to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo for 15 years before the pair called it quits.

Cuomo and Kennedy were married from 1990 to 2005 and share three children together.

Who is Kerry Kennedy?

Mary Kerry Kennedy, 61, is a human rights activist and ex-wife.

Her parents are Robert Francis Kennedy and Ethel Skakel, and she is one of 11 children.

Her dad was famously the 64th Attorney General and the brother of former US President John F Kennedy.

Shortly after winning the California primary around midnight on June 5, 1968, Robert Kennedy was shot and killed by 24-year-old Sirhan Sirhan, allegedly in retaliation for his support of Israel following the 1967 Six-Day War.

Kerry went to Brown University and Boston College for law school, and is currently the president of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights nonprofit.

She is also an author having written two Speak Truth to Power books, one entitled Human Rights Defenders Who Are Changing Our World and the other, A Guide To Defending Human Rights.

She's also penned Being Catholic Now and Robert F. Kennedy: Ripples of Hope.

How many children does Kerry Kennedy have?

During their marriage, Kerry Kennedy gave birth to three daughters.

First, the pair welcomed twins Mariah and Cara, born 1995.

Meanwhile, their eldest daughter Michaela was born in 1997.

Did Andrew Cuomo resign?

Following multiple allegations throughout 2021, New York Attorney General Letitia James her investigation in a press conference on August 3, 2021.

"Gov. Cuomo sexually harassed several women, many of whom were young women," James said.

There have been more than half a dozen sexual harassment allegations against the NYS Governor which James added was a violation of state and federal law. 

James also added in that Gov. Cuomo is being accused of cultivating a "toxic workplace."

Where were Andrew Cuomo and Kerry Kennedy married?

, 63, and Kennedy's engagement was announced in mid-February 1990.

And they tied the knot on June 9, 1990, at St. Matthew’s Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

Their marriage lasted 15 years from 1990 to 2005.

Their marriage, a union of two political families, was reportedly intense and stressful.

Cuomo was said to be head-first in work a lot of the time while Kennedy stayed at home with their kids.

Kerry worked on Cuomo's first campaign for governor—it went disastrously, he quit the race, and soon after Kerry asked him for a divorce.

 alleged in an article forthat Kennedy allegedly told the family that on "more than one" occasion she would sleep in the locked bathroom as the couple worked out divorce proceedings before their separation in 2005.

"I’ve been a human rights activist, and for women who have abusive husbands and here I am enduring this abuse,” Kerry told a friend, claims Shnayerson.

Kerry is said to have told the public they were seeking an "amicable divorce" - but Cuomo is alleged to have leaked to the press that she had an affair with a "Republican polo player".

The politician is also alleged to have made her life "miserable" by "constantly sticking it to her" - such as by refusing to make Christmas plans until December as they shared responsibility of their daughters, twins Mariah and Cara, and Michaela.

In a statement, Cuomo's team said: "The divorce was over 15 years ago and was tabloid fodder for weeks with all sorts of untrue rumors circulating. Time has proven them all false.

"Andrew is a great father, and his daughters will be the first to say that Kerry and Andrew have been great co-parents—and time showed those who spread the rumors‎ were actually the problem.​"
