Woman killed after crashing her car then being hit as she crossed motorway for help
A WOMAN who crashed her car on the motorway was killed as she crossed the road to get help.
Lynda Mudd, 51, suffered catastrophic injuries on the M8 at Shotts in North Lanarkshire.
The mum-of-one, from nearby Chapelhall, had crashed her red Vauxhall Corsa but left it on the eastbound carriageway just after 4am on Friday.
Cops found her injured near a slip road but she could not be saved and died at the scene.
Mrs Mudd’s devastated husband Graham described her as “beautiful and amazing”.
He wrote on social media: "On Friday morning I lost the most beautiful, amazing wife a man could have, Grant lost the most wonderful mother a son could have, Charlotte the most fantastic step mum a daughter could have and Max, Jaxon and Kian the best grandma that three youngsters could wish for.

"So many people lost one of the best friends you could wish to have. Lynda was my soul mate, my rock, my best friend, my lover, my wife.
"Lynda's star may have burnt out but her after glow will be with me and all her family and friends forever.
"Please remember to to hug your loved ones tight and often because you never know when that thrill could be taken away from you forever.
"Thanks for all the love and kindness shown to my family at this most difficult time."

Police have appealed for help as they probe the “complex” incident.
Chief Inspector Darren Faulds said: "This is a distressing incident and our inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
Anyone with information on the incident, was travelling on the M8 near Shotts around 4.05am on Friday or has dashcam footage should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 0355 of 2 October 2020.
