questioned who exactly Biden was quoting, to which the Democratic contender replied, "Kellyanne Conway."
But Trump denied that his former aide had made the comments saying: "I don't think she said that."
The exact quote from Conway from her appearance on "Fox and Friends" on August 27 is: "The more chaos and anarchy and vandalism and violence reigns, the better it is for the very clear choice on who's best on public safety and law and order."
Conway herself tweeted: “Thanks for debate shout-out, creepy/sleepy/weepy JOE, but you lied. And don't sniff my hair, either.”
The reference to sniffing hair likely stems from an accusation by former Democratic Nevada state assemblywoman Lucy Flores.
"As I was taking deep breaths and preparing myself to make my case to the crowd, I felt two hands on my shoulders,” she wrote in last year.
“I froze. 'Why is the vice-president of the United States touching me?'.
"I felt him get closer to me from behind. He leaned further in and inhaled my hair. I was mortified.”
At the time, Conway said Biden “has a big problem here because he calls it affection and handshakes”.
Biden, who was Barack Obama's deputy from 2009 to 2017, has faced multiple accusations of “creepily” invading personal space.
This includes head kisses, shoulder rubs and forehead touching.
Responding to the accusations made by Flores, the former Vice-President said he has "offered countless handshakes, hugs, expressions of affection, support and comfort" while on the campaign trail and in public life.
