Jon Venables denied parole as murdered toddler James Bulger’s dad says he can ‘rest easy’

JON Venables has been denied parole as James Bulger's father says he can "rest easy" knowing his son's killer will remain behind bars.

Paedophile Venables, 38, and his pal Robert Thompson kidnapped and murdered toddler James in Merseyside in 1993 - in a crime which shocked Britain.

The 10-year-old killers served eight years before they were freed aged 18 on licence with new identities - however Venables has since been jailed twice for possessing child abuse images.

He has now been told he will remain in prison for at least another two years before he can apply for parole again, the reports.

James' father Ralph Bulger admitted he was "relieved" that the "arch manipulator" was not going to be freed.

The grieving father says Venables is a dangerous paedophile who will kill again if he is allowed back on the streets.

He said: "He may not stay in jail forever, but just knowing he is behind bars means children are safe from him for at least another two years.

“I’ve always believed Venables will kill another child again if he is allowed back into the community.

"To let him out could be another death sentence for an innocent child like James."

Venables was first sent back to jail in 2010 after child abuse images were found on his laptop.

He was released in 2013 with yet another new identity but was back in prison in 2017 when more disgusting pictures were found on his computer.

He is also said to have admitted to having a "paedophile manual" when he was convicted three years ago.

And while such an offence would mean a 20-month sentence, Venables' life licence means he is on parole until the day he dies.

Fellow killer Robert Thompson has never re-offended since he was freed aged 18 - despite being branded the ringleader and "remorseless" during the trial.
