Who is Don Lemon’s husband, Tim Malone?
DON Lemon has often shared screen time with a number of guests while he was an anchor for CNN.
However, audiences are curious to know more about Don's relationship with his longtime partner, Tim Malone, including details about the newlyweds' April 2024 nuptials.
Who is Don Lemon's fiancé Tim Malone?
Born in April 1984, Tim Malone is a real estate agent from Water Mill, New York.
Since graduating with his bachelor's in journalism and history from Boston College, Tim splits his time between Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Long Island.
Prior to changing career paths from media to real estate, he held positions behind the scenes for The Today Show and NBCUniversal.
Malone also worked for the sales departments of the SyFy network and the USA network.
After that role, Malone went on to work at Billboard as a director and later became the executive director of brand partnerships for three years.
For two years, he was a realtor at The Corcoran Group before beginning his tenure with Douglas Elliman Real Estate in February 2020.
On April 6, 2019, he became engaged to his longtime partner Don Lemon, which also coincided with Tim's birthday.
That Saturday, Lemon shared the engagement news on social media.
On his Instagram post, Don wrote: "He gave me a present on his birthday. How could I say no?"
The two first started dating sometime in the Summer of 2016 and first went public with their relationship through a post on Don's Instagram.
When are Don Lemon and Tim Malone getting married?
Don Lemon and Tim Malone officially tied the knot on April 6, 2024.
The duo got married in New York City in front of 140 guests.
Neither Lemon nor Malone were stressed about their big day, as reported by .
“I'm a last-minute person, and most things I just don't worry about," Lemon said.
“But this one I'm secretly worried about, but I'm letting Tim take the reins because he's a good planner," he added.
Lemon and Malone tied the knot at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, and their ceremony was officiated by the US ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield.
"She's a friend, and it means that much to us," Lemon said, speaking about Thomas-Greenfield.
“I have not been nervous about anything except writing the vows," Lemon revealed to People ahead of the big day.
"We are saying our own personal vows and then we're doing the traditional wedding ceremony vows.”
After the ceremony, guests reportedly made their way to Ralph Lauren's Polo Bar for the reception.
"We had our first date at the Polo Bar," Malone said.
“It was election night in 2016. We had gone to a viewing party downtown.”
The wedding's guest list was a celebrity affair, filled with a slew of entertainers and journalists alike.
Notable attendees include Whoopi Goldberg, Matt Lauer, Luann de Lesseps, and Clive Davis.
“I never thought that I would get married,” Lemon said.
“I mean, maybe Tim's generation, he's 18 years younger than me. So for him maybe it was more of a possibility.”
For Lemon, marrying one another is "a confirmation of our love and our commitment to each other."
"It's also about celebrating our relationship, and our relationship with the people who are most important to us in our lives," Lemon added.
In the wake of Don and Tim's engagement milestone in 2019, the former told that he and his fiancé had not started planning any aspect of their wedding.
The broadcaster stated: "I’m just trying to enjoy this moment of bliss, and then, whenever we get married, we get married.
"The advice I get from most people is: Don’t become obsessed with the ceremony or wedding planning — just enjoy it."
While stopping by The Tamron Hall Show, he further explained: "I just found the right person.
"The person who believes in unconditional love, who believes in the challenges, going through the challenges, weathering the storms of a relationship because relationships aren't easy and I don't think they're supposed to be easy."
Don added: "Someone who really believes in family, and I decided you know I need to lean into my life because I grew up never thinking that I'd be able to be open about who I was in love with and about my love life and my relationship.
"I actually grew up thinking that I would never get married, or it will just be a roommate, you know, or I could never tell my family or be honest with the public about it, and then once same-sex marriage passed, I said, you know, 'why not get married?'"
When did Don Lemon leave CNN?
On Monday, April 24, 2023, Lemon announced on X, formerly Twitter, that he had been fired from CNN.
He wrote, "I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN."
The reporter wrote he was "stunned" by the news and "after 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly."
"At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network," he continued.
Lemon ended the statement thanking his colleagues calling them "the most talented journalists in the business."
Lemon's contract was originally set to expire in 2026.
However, CNN had reportedly struggled with booking guests to appear on-air with Lemon, and his viewership – and ratings – were declining.
"To my CNN Colleagues, CNN and Don have parted ways," CNN CEO Chris Licht said in a statement, as reported by .
"Don will forever be a part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years," he added.
After Lemon's exit tweet, where he accused CNN of failing to inform him of his firing in person, CNN's social media team responded.
