Hunt for double murder suspect Ali Qazimaj moves to Albania after The Sun on Sunday gives cops new evidence

We handed police a piece of paper with an Albanian mobile number connected to the fugitive

The hunt for a fugitive suspected of double murder last night moved to Albania after police were given new evidence by The Sun on Sunday.

Asylum seeker Ali Qazimaj, 42, is the prime suspect in the murder of Peter Stuart, 75, found stabbed to death, and his missing and presumed dead wife Sylvia, 69.

Qazimaj is known to have a British passport after falsely claiming he was fleeing from war-torn Kosovo when he arrived 15 years ago.

Yesterday we handed cops in Albania a piece of paper with an Albanian mobile number connected to the suspect.

It was found by a pal of his and contains details of a plot of land near Tirana airport which was up for sale.

A senior police source in Albania said:”We thank you for your cooperation. This will be invaluable to our investigation.

“We will work as hard as we can to help the British police. This could be the information that cracks the case.

“We strongly believe this man is not Kosovan but Albanian and he has connections with Albania.”

The source told The Sun on Sunday that Qazimaj had travelled to Albania in 2013 using his falsely acquired British passport.

He is thought to have connections in the run-down crime-hit Tirana suburb of Kazam, and police advised The Sun on Sunday not to make enquiries for “your own safety”.

Last week The Sun revealed how Qazimaj had stolen the identity of the real Ali Qazimaj in Kosovo, who was arrested and questioned by police before being released.

He is also known to use the alias Marco Costa, which raises the alarming possibility that police investigating the death of the couple from Weybread, Suffolk, have no idea who he really is and that he could simply melt away.
