Smiler crash victim who lost her leg told to ‘start walking’ by Virgin Trains staff after ‘being refused disability help’
Vicky Balch, 20, claims she was denied help from staff at London's Euston station - despite booking in advance
ALTON Towers amputee Vicky Balch has slammed train staff for allegedly refusing to give her help and ordered her to 'start walking'.
The student, 20, lost her right leg in The Smiler rollercoaster horror smash last year.
But she claimed she was refused help from Virgin Train staff at London's Euston station - despite booking in advance.
Vicky tweeted: "Another 20 min wait for help, 2 have refused, 1 told me to 'start walking' no seats to sit and wait either!
"Booked assistance yday was refused help after waiting 20 minutes, happens every tlondonime I go to Euston station."
She added: "Hard for me to stand for periods of time and walking."
Virgin Trains replied on Twitter and have launched an investigation into the incident which the firm branded "completely unacceptable".
The Sun Online has contacted the firm for comment.
Vicky, a student at Derby University, was on board The Smiler rollercoaster when her carriage smashed into empty one.
Alton Towers faces a huge fine after admitting health and safety failures.
Sixteen passengers were injured in the crash last June.
Speaking last month, Vicky said: "I don’t really blame anyone. I had a lot of anger, but not any more.”
A Virgin Trains spokesperson told The Sun Online: “We’re really sorry that Vicky had this experience which is completely unacceptable.
"We’re looking into it as a matter of urgency and will also be taking it up with Network Rail, who provide the disability assistance at Euston.
"We’ve offered Vicky a pair of free first class tickets to a destination of her choice whilst we investigate this.”
