Her line of numbers made up of her grandkids’ birthdays scooped the August 15 prize.

Sue said: “I couldn’t believe it. I can’t repeat what I actually said! I rang our three daughters to tell them.

“We’ve won the odd fiver here and there but half a million is amazing!

“I’ve surprised myself with how calm I’ve remained. After a tough few months, this really is great news.”

Hubby Alan, 60, stopped working in 2008 when their son Karl, 23, was diagnosed with cancer.

While he has made a good recovery, Sue quit work as a machinist to become his carer.

She bought the winning ticket from Asda in Gorseinon, Swansea.

The couple are now looking to move from their three-bed council bungalow in Penlan.

Sue added: “It will be lovely to own our home. We’ve been here eight years and realised in the last few months that it isn’t the most suitable for us any more.”
