Brother of missing Suzanne Morphew begs her husband to help cops months after she vanished on Mother’s Day bike ride
THE brother of missing cyclist Suzanne Morphew is pleading with his brother-in-law to work with the authorities after he refused to take a polygraph test.
Andy Moorman told he will continue searching for his sister even after her husband Barry Morphew said he believes she probably got attacked by a wild animal - and was surprised to find out his brother-in-law refused to take a polygraph test or cooperate with authorities.
"Please, Barry, if you could see this, I would really love it if you would take the time to revisit the authorities and go over everything once again," Moorman asked of his brother-in-law.
"Take a voice analysis and a lie detector test and clear yourself."
Moorman is speaking out more than three months after his sister went missing when she went on a solo bike ride on Mother's Day, May 10.
Although he doubts his sister, 49, is still alive, he vows not give up searching for her.
"My sister was just the sweetest person ever and anyone would have been happy to be friends or neighbors with her," he said.
"And she has two daughters without answers right now. My father at 87 has cancer and needs answers. And I'm not going to give up. I'm coming back out there to look."
Moorman not only pled with his brother-in-law to clear his name, but has placed responsibility of her recovery on him as well.
"Put my mind at ease and everybody out there's mind at ease if you want to shut the rumors down. That's the way you do it," Moorman advised his brother-in-law.
"You need to find your wife. That should be your only goal is to find your wife and whatever you're asked to do by the authorities is what you should."
"If you're not guilty, step up to the plate," Moorman said.
Morphew was last seen leaving her Maysville, Colorado home to go on a solo bike ride on Mother's Day in May.
Barry Morphew was away in Denver at the time while attending a training course for his job as a volunteer firefighter.
Despite making a video a week after Morphew had gone missing and offering a $100,000 reward for her recovery - on top of another $100,000 offered by a family friend - Barry Morphew has stayed relatively quiet about the subject.
That is until recently, when he had a 25-minute conversation with about his wife's disappearance.
"My wife and I have been in love since 1988 and she’s the love of my life. And I continue to search for her every day and I will until I find her. I promise and I promised my girls that," he told the station's reporter, but declined to do the interview in-person nor wished the recording of the call be aired.
"This is the most devastating thing that has ever happened to me," he continued.
"But I have got to keep my faith and trust in God. And Suzanne trusted the Lord and if one person got saved from this, she would think it was worth it.
"And we are just a Godly, loving, caring, family and this thing is just a tragedy."
Morphew theorized his wife may have been attacked by an animal, or worse, may have encountered someone with negative intentions. But he said he was doing his best to search for the mother of his two daughters-- despite what people believed about him.
"I am afraid of what is out there," he said. "People don’t know the truth, so they’re gonna think what they’re gonna think."
Responding to allegations he refused a polygraph test - he retorted he was never offered one.
"I’ve never been asked to do a polygraph," Morphew said. "There is nothing that I am hiding. I have given three – 30 hours of testimony to the FBI and the CBI. I’ve answered every question. Every single question."
He did admit mistaking the timing of when he was working on his tractor.
"It was only because I didn’t know the time that I did something, a mechanical thing, to my bobcat," Morphew said.
"I was confused and I just found out my wife was missing, and I was a little bit not in my right mind when they were asking me these questions, but I did the best I could and I answered everything. I never once declined any interview."
"The Sheriff’s Department screwed this whole thing up from the beginning and now they are trying to cover it up and blame it on me," Morphew offered instead.
"My buddy was there right after that, and he said that they completely destroyed the evidence, and he tried to stop them, but they wouldn’t listen to him and said, ‘this is not CSI,'" he said of a friend who watched Colorado sheriffs recover his wife's bike.
"There’s no evidence for the investigators to see because the Sheriff’s Department completely obliterated it."
However, Suzanne's brother Moorman takes fault with his brother-in-law's theory that Suzanne was attacked by an animal.
"An animal did not attack her because there absolutely was no blood evidence and no tracks on the ground, no scent from an animal," he said.
"I stood there and looked and I realized that nobody rode over the side of that hill. There would have been signs of a struggle or you would have been skinned up."

Moorman even said he confronted his brother-in-law while the two were searching for clues where sheriffs had recovered Suzanne's bike.
"I said to Barry 'Hey, I don't think she fell off the hill on that bicycle or rode over the edge.' I said, 'I believe a human being threw this down here,'" Moorman recalled saying.
Although Moorman has not been in touch with his brother-in-law or his two nieces, he hopes they'll show up at a candlelight vigil he will be hosting Saturday, and hopes they'll keep up their search for her as well.
