TWO men dressed up as SpongeBob SquarePants and a Russian cartoon hedgehog started a brawl in the middle of a park.

The bizarre fight took place on International Children’s Day in the Russian city of Naberezhnye Chelny.

In the shocking video, kicks and punches were traded by the famous sea sponge and the hedgehog from Russian cartoon Kikoriki.

The popular cartoon characters started kicking eachother in the middle of the Russian Park.

The kicks leave SpongeBob reeling as he steps back a few paces.

The brawl took place on International Children's Day

But the characters start fighting again as the hedgehog jumps into the air to aim another kick at SpongeBob.

The brawl descends into punching as the two tustle tightly in the park.

SpongeBob manages to floor the hedgehog with a kick.

As the hedgehog lies on the ground, SpongeBob finishes him off with a punch.

It is unknown whether the fight was staged or not.

A witness said: "SpongeBob and Hedgehog from Kikoriki could not agree on the controlled territory during the children’s event commemorating International Children’s Day.

"Organisers of the event had to use force to stop them."

Police said that they had not received any complaints about the brawl.

Online viewers were outraged that children were upset by the fight.

One woman, called Alina said: "This is idiotic.

"Was there nothing better to do at this event.

"What example are they setting to the younger generation. Shameful."
