Barrister and wife ‘harassed and humiliated his ex-lover after 18-month affair’
The married couple 'sent the woman humiliating texts describing her sexual preferences,' a court heard
A BARRISTER and his wife conducted a “vulgar” campaign of harassment against his former lover, a jury heard yesterday.
Jonathan Simpson is said to have had an 18-month affair with the woman before wife Katherine found out.
Simpson, 48, and property lawyer Katherine, 49, then began sending her and her relatives humiliating texts and emails describing her sexual preferences, the court was told.
The barrister, from Winchester, Hants, is said to have gone to the school where his ex-mistress took her child aiming to hand out leaflets about her.
David Sapiecha, prosecuting, said Simpson was moved out of a train carriage by an inspector for talking loudly about sex with the woman in front of one of her ex-partners.
His wife allegedly wrote a letter to the father of the woman’s child ordering her to drop a restraining order “and stay out of Winchester. Then your problems will be over”.
Mr Sapiecha told Southwark crown court: “Both defendants carried out a campaign of embarrassment and threats.
“The methodology was vulgar.”
The couple deny stalking, claiming they were taking reasonable steps to prove the woman lied to get a restraining order against Simpson.
