Noel Edmonds sparks fury by telling cancer patient his illness was probably caused by his ‘negative attitude’
Deal or No Deal presenter was promoting device he claimed could prevent disease when Twitter user called it 'quackery'
NOEL Edmonds sparked fury by telling a cancer patient his tumour was probably caused by his “negative attitude”.
The host of TV’s Deal Or No Deal criticised Vaun Earl in a Twitter row over a device Edmonds claims can tackle tumours.
The Mr Blobby presenter backed the £2,000 EMPpad, a mat which fires magnetic pulses into the body and is used in sports medicine.
He claimed it “slows ageing, reduces pain, lifts depression and stress and tackles cancer.
"Yep tackles cancer!”
Mr Earl called the device "quackery".
Edmonds, 67, then hit back: “Scientific fact — disease is caused by negative energy.
"Is it possible your ill health is caused by your negative attitude? #explore.”
The Advertising Standards Authority confirmed it is investigating a complaint about the EMPpad.
Bristol supplier EMPLtd issued a statement distancing itself from Edmonds’ claims.
It said: “EMPpad does not make the claim that it can prevent cancer.
"The opinions of Mr Noel Edmonds are his alone.
"We had no discussion, input or prior knowledge of the content of his statement.
"We do not agree with it in any way, shape or form."

The tweet prompted online fury.
Comedian Al Murray said it was a 'horrible thing' for Edmonds to say.
He posted a photograph of a box from Deal or No Deal with the caption: "A simple box that slows ageing, reduces pain, lifts depression and stress and tackles cancer.
"Yep tackles cancer!"
Another Twitter user posted an image of Edmonds and Mr Blobby, saying: “And if you don’t believe Noel, here he is with the scientist behind this miracle.”
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy has been used in sports medicine for several years.
Although some studies suggest it may treat cancer, these have been small and the technique remains largely unproven.
Edmonds often tweets about the EMPpad, recommending it to his followers.
He has previously credited using it for eight minutes a day with helping to eliminate pain, reducing stress and making him appear younger than his years.
