Wannabe staycation camper stunned after £30 ‘bargain’ tent arrives – but is only big enough to hold his beer
A WANNABE camper who thought he'd scored a £30 bargain online was left stunned when his "two-man tent" arrived - but was only big enough to store a can of beer.
David Adam, 47, claims he had never shopped online before but jumped at the chance to buy a "three second pop-up tent" for a what seemed like a steal.
But the bargain-hunter was shocked when the tent arrived self-assembled and standing at just one foot tall.
Luckily, David, from Glasgow, saw the funny side and "burst out laughing" when he opened the package.
He said: "To be honest I just burst out laughing. That was me really caught out.
"It's about a foot wide to a foot high. It's got some pockets inside it and a pocket in the roof to put your keys in. There's no door on it either. It's a wee fishing tent, I think.
"The tent didn't look like that online. It was a 'three second tent', they called it. On this one, the poles go on the outside and you put them in. It's not a pop-up tent.
"The [advertised tent] just goes straight up and straight down, and that's what the photograph was."
'NEVER AGAIN'
David said he's unlikely to buy a tent online ever again after the mishap.
He added: "I'm not looking for another tent now. Next time I'll just go to the shop and buy one.
"I've never bought anything online in my life. It is what it is. I'm not going to get upset over it."
David's neighbours were in stitches when they saw the flimsy tent - which also drew a hilarious reaction when he posted it online.
The labourer tried to track down the website he purchased it from to return it but found the website to be void - and realised he'd been scammed.
David added: "The company that sold them I can't find at all now. That's the tent we got. It's just a bit of fun at the end of it.
"I've got an email for it, but I tried to go back to the company but they've just gone void. I've tried finding the site for it but there's nothing. It's a scammer.
"I don't know much about computers, and I don't need camping gear anyway. I've already got a couple of tents, but I just thought it's quite a smart wee thing."
But he claims he's still happy with the piece of kit and will take it camping with him in future.
David said: "I don't know much about computers, and I don't need camping gear anyway. I've already got a couple of tents, but I just thought it's quite a smart wee thing.

"I've got three tents anyway. I just thought because it only takes three seconds to put it up and it's quite small, I can take it with me and put it up in case of emergencies.
"I'm going to keep it. I can't send it back anyway. There's no return address for these people on the receipt.
