OnlyFans star Kat West’s husband ‘bludgeoned secret porn-star wife to death with absinthe bottle’ as trial date set
THE husband of an Only Fans star is to stand trial after allegedly bludgeoning her to death with an absinthe bottle.
Jeff West stands accused of killing wife "Kitty" Kat West and leaving her body outside their home in a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama, in 2018.
Kat, 42, was a stay-at-home mom-of-one - but led a double life as a secret Only Fans porn star, charging followers $15.99 a month to access DIY erotic content.
She also had popular Twitter and Instagram accounts using the moniker Kitty Kat West.
Her partially nude body was found at around 5am on January 13, 2018, by a 19-year-old woman on her way to an early-morning shift at a fast-food restaurant.
The woman also found nearby a green bottle placed on top of a cellphone, an arrangement she said appeared to have been staged.
The teen's father, who also later attended the scene, said he touched Kat's back and found that she wasn't breathing.
Describing Jeff West's demeanour that morning, the woman said: "It was odd. It was very odd.
"He walked out like it didn't even matter to him."
Her father added that West walked out of his house and said: "What's going on? That's my wife."
West is a US Army veteran and former campus security guard at Birmingham Southern College.
CCTV from a nearby liquor store showed him and his wife buying a bottle of Lucid Absinthe and a bottle of Jameson Irish Whiskey on the night before her body was discovered.
West was taken into custody on February 22, just over a month after Kat's death, and later charged with her murder.
He has since been held at Shelby County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
He denies any role in Kat's death.
TRIAL DATE SET
Charging documents say Kat died after being struck across the head with a bottle.
A judge in Shelby County has now set a date for West's trial, with jury selection due to start on September 14.
John Robbins, an attorney representing West, has said his client was aware of his wife's life as an online star, but that he had no role in her death.
He has also criticized the size of West's bond, saying his client has effectively been serving time for a crime of which he has not yet been found guilty.
“Jeff is certainly looking forward to defending himself at trial of this case,” Robbins said.
