BOOKING A PLACE

What time does Ucas Clearing open and close?

UCAS Clearing has had a few changes this year to help match students with courses and universities.

It is the next stage for many students who didn’t get the grades they needed. Here’s when it opens and how to get on it.

What time does Ucas Clearing open?

While Clearing has been open since July, you can only add your place on Ucas Track from 3pm today (August 13).

The results should be available from 8am today, August 13.

Your A-level results will not show in Ucas track and you will need to get those from your school or college.

This year Ucas is trying to make the process a little easier with a new tool – Clearing Plus.

What will Ucas Clearing show?

Your status in track will depend on whether your chosen university has accepted your results.

If you didn’t get your place at university confirmed on Ucas track, an option to “Add Clearing choice” on your track screen will automatically show up.

You will also get a Clearing number, which you will need to hand when you phone universities.

However, courses are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

How to apply for university through Clearing

People have been able to apply through Clearing since July, but it is most frequently used after A-level results day by people who have just missed out on their grades.

It remains open until October 20, and the idea is that you identify courses, which still have spaces, that interest you and then you contact them directly.

Unlike applying before Clearing, you’ll only be able to add a choice after you’ve submitted your application.

Results day can be nervewracking for many students

You still need to register on Track and make an application as you did when you originally applied.

This must be done in the same way and include that dreaded personal statement.

After you’ve done this you should receive an email from Ucas which will give you a “Clearing number” and how to access your new Track account.
