Meghan Markle guided Prince Harry on his ‘journey to wokeness’ after he ‘witnessed her facing racism’, author claims

MEGHAN Markle guided Prince Harry on his "journey to wokeness" after he witnessed her facing racism, it was claimed today.

The 39-year-old's experiences would have been the "first time" that the Duke of Sussex would have seen someone he was close to affected by racist remarks, Finding Freedom biographer Omid Scobie revealed.

Speaking to the National Public Radio in the United States, the co-author of the biography claimed: "Harry's journey to wokeness has been very public.

"We've seen him learning and educating himself along the way, but this experience of witnessing Meghan face racist remarks and commentary would have been the first time he'd seen someone in his life or someone he was particularly close to affected by it in a certain way.

"Harry's really had to become more attuned to and learn to see when it happens in front of him.

"And Meghan would have been the person that guided him on that journey."

Mr Scobie was speaking just two days before Finding Freedom is released on August 11 - a biography widely claimed to be giving the side of Harry, 35, and Meghan, 39, as they quit the Royal Family.

And while they have stepped back from the Firm, the couple have continued to work with charities and speak out over equality and race issues.

Prince Harry most recently revealed he and Meghan had been calling businesses, urging them to stop advertising on social media.

"Companies that purchase online ads must also recognise that our digital world has an impact on the physical world - on our collective health, on our democracies, on the ways we think and interact with each other, on how we process and trust information," he wrote in an opinion piece for .

"Because, if we are susceptible to the coercive forces in digital spaces, then we have to ask ourselves - what does this mean for our children? As a father, this is especially concerning to me."

The couple also urged their fans to get involved in "uncomfortable" conversations in a recent speech from their LA home.

Harry and Meghan are currently living in California with baby Archie after quitting the Firm earlier this year.

And Caroline Durand, who also authored the upcoming biography, spoke out of the couple's decision, saying: "Harry really was looking out for his family.

"His wife felt aggrieved, and they thought that the best decision that they could make was to step back, have a little bit more privacy but still be in a situation where they could carry on their mission, devote themselves to the causes that were so important to them."

She referenced reports of a conversation between Harry and Prince William, where it has been claimed William asked his younger brother "are you sure" over his relationship with Meghan.

Mr Scobie added: "I think there've been some people have commented that that might have been a moment where Harry was too sensitive.

"But I think we need to really look at the overall picture here and what led up to that moment. Harry was already aware of some of the murmurings that were taking place behind his back within the royal household about Meghan."

And despite speculation of a rift in the Royal Family, Prince Harry is still closely connected to his dad, Prince Charles, The Sun recently revealed.

A royal insider said: “They have a very strong and close father-and-son relationship. Many people have speculated that the book was the end for Harry and Meghan in Britain.

“Too many people were criticised and too many people attacked, including William and Kate.

“But the Prince of Wales has made it clear the door is always open.

“Since his move to Los Angeles they have been in regular contact. Charles is not an avid user of texts but there are video and phone calls.

“The book has never been a massive talking point between them and Charles is determined that it is not an obstacle."
