AN honest dad found four ‘priceless’ Euro 2016 football tickets in a suitcase he had just bought at TK Maxx – and gave them back.

Ian Bebb, 44, from Cardiff, thought he had “won the lottery” after finding the coveted tickets to sold out Wales matches at the big international tournament in France this summer.

But it quickly dawned on him that somebody must have lost them – and went out of his way to track down the original owner.

After taking the Pierre Cardin travel bag back to the store where he bought it, he was able to trace Gillian Ravenscroft, 67, who had bought the tickets for her two footie-mad sons.

But after putting them in her newly-purchased suitcase for safe keeping, she changed her mind and returned it to TK MAXX – forgetting they were inside.

She contacted the shop in Cwmbran, South Wales, but they said the bag had been sold on to a buyer that could not be traced.

They also tried to get copies of the tickets from UEFA, but were told this wasn’t possible.

The mum had already been forced to break the news to her devastated sons Leon, 43, and Gary, 46, who are originally from Newport now both live in Australia.

But honest Ian saved the day by returning the £110 tickets for Wales clashes with Russia and Slovakia this June.

Leon said: “This has restored our faith in humanity.

To be honest I had given up hope of seeing the tickets. It seemed we were out of luck.

“Then we got a call from a family friend saying a man had turned up at his door with the original tickets in the envelope.

“I was ecstatic. The trip was back on. My initial thoughts were about the football, but then I realised what a wonderfully honest act by the gentleman.

“He did a great, honest and kind act and I thank him very much. His actions deserve a lot of credit.”

Relieved Gillian said: “Needless to say that both myself and my sons are relieved and elated and it confirms my belief that people will go the extra mile to help others.”

Wales play Slovakia on Saturday June 11, and Russia on June 20 – either side of their clash with England on June 16.
