German cops foil ISIS terror plot by 10 suicide bombers in the city of Düsseldorf
Terror cell made up of Syrian 'refugees' was thought to be plotting a Paris-style outrage in the tourist-packed city
GERMAN cops have thwarted an ISIS terror plot involving TEN suicide bombers attacking the German city of Düsseldorf.
It had been thought a terror cell of four Syrians – who made it to Germany disguised as refugees – was plotting a Paris-style outrage in the city.
But Der Spiegel magazine claims four suicide bombers aimed to blow themselves up while SIX more accomplices went on a gun rampage before detonating their own suicide vests.
Three Syrian terror suspects, aged 31, 27 and 25, have been held since Thursday.
The terror plot was uncovered after a fourth Syrian man, identified as Saleh A., turned himself into authorities in Paris on February 1.
A spokesman for the French ministry of justice revealed Saleh A. told cops about a “sleeper cell” preparing to strike in Germany.”
The alleged terror attack was planned to hit Düsseldorf’s old town, famous for its many pubs, shops, restaurants and hotels.
One of the suspects had made a request for asylum in Germany after registering at a refugee shelter.
French cops claimed the murder plot was not connected with the UEFA Euro 2016 football championship that kicks off in Paris next Friday.
