AN enormous alligator provided a gargantuan photo opportunity when it meandered leisurely across a golf course in Florida.

Golfers out for a quiet Sunday round at the Buffalo Creek Course witnessed the massive reptile casually strolling down the fairway.

Player Charles Helms was able to film the gigantic gator wandering along the grass which only looked larger when another golfer strolled into shot to snap the beast.

Shockingly the vast Jurassic Park like creature is apparently a regular site for members of the club according to an employee.

Wendy Schofield told local news station News 3: "People have heard that he is out here and that is all they want to see so they will bring spectators to ride so somebody can get a picture.

"He doesn't bother anybody and they don't bother him, he's like a mascot for the course, which is owned by Manatee County."

Wendy, who has worked in the club pro shop for five years, added: "He has been here for a very, very long time; he's not new at all.

“There have been guesses that he's 15 to 16 feet long.

"The word has spread that this is a great place to come and play. He is the highlight, but we are worth the price too."

If those estimations are right the casual reptile could stroll its way into the record books, smashing the current record for biggest gator in the Sunshine State at 14 feet long and 780 pounds.
