PAGEANT queen Ramsey Carpenter-Bearse was sentenced to two years in prison for sexting a student in 2018.

The former Miss Kentucky pleaded guilty in 2019 to a felony count of possession of material depicting minors in sexually explicit conduct.

Who is Ramsey Carpenter-Bearse?

Ramsey Carpenter-Bearse, 28, is an American beauty pageant contestant from Kentucky.

In addition to competing in pageants, she was a teacher specializing in learning and behavior disorders.

When was she Miss Kentucky?

Carpenter-Bearse was named Miss Kentucky 2014 in July of that year.

She then went on to compete for the title of Miss America 2015, where she won the preliminary talent competition and placed in the Top 12 as a semifinalist.

After her pageant competitions, she began teaching science at Andrew Jackson Middle School in Cross Lanes, West Virginia.

Why was she sentenced to prison?

In December of 2018, Carpenter-Bearse was arrested for allegedly sending at least four topless photos to a 15-year-old boy and a former student of hers using the Snapchat app.

She was charged with four felony counts of distribution or display of obscene matter to minors.

Carpenter-Bearse pleaded guilty in 2019 to a felony count of possession of material depicting minors in sexually explicit conduct.

She was sentenced Wednesday via Skype with Kanawha County Circuit Court Judge Bloom.

In addition to her prison sentence, she will serve 10 years of supervised release.

She also will be subjected to lie detector searches and drug screens.

Carpenter-Bearse will be required to register as a lifetime sex offender.

Sergeant Brian Humphreys of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office said the case is a wake-up call to all parents of young children.

"There are a lot of bad situations that can arise because of a naive understanding of how social media works...," in Charleston, West Virginia.

"So it's important as a parent to monitor those things, keep tabs on who your children are communicating with," he concluded.
